You Don't Want To Lie To This Guy

goodell.jpgNeedless to say, Michael Vick is in a world of hurt right now. While Vick will find scrambling away from a federal grand jury much tougher than an NFL defensive end, it will be Roger Goodell who will ultimately sack Vick first. Just like 'Parenting 101', Goodell sat Michael Vick down in a one-on-one meeting back in April before much of this dog-poo hit the fan, and gave the Vickster his one golden opportunity to come clean. Goodell no doubt told Vick that giving the commish the straight goods on his role in this mess would help him in the long run with the league and his team. In the same way that preparation and game-planning is the key to success on the field, honesty from Vick back in April would've gone a long way to helping the powers-that-be prepare for damage control scenarios that might have been able to salvage whatever currency Vick had with the NFL suits. So what does Michael Vick and his $2 IQ do? Lie. Vick looked the commissioner dead in the eye and basically told him he knew nothing of this dogfighting operation and thus had no role in it. While Vick is innocent until proven guilty, this federal indictment almost guarantees that Vick had some role in this, and thus exposing Vick's lie to Goodell. If PacMan Jones can get a 1-year suspension without an indictment or being found guilty in a court of law, what do you think is in store for Vick?

Do you think this commissioner is going to permit Michael Vick to play football on Sundays while gruesome details and photos of animal cruelty flow from an in-season trial, essentially rendering football to becoming the 'side-show' to a constant and never-ending bad-PR cycle? Yeah right. Vick's 2007 season is about as toast as one of the pitbulls he allegedly electrocuted. Bye bye Vick, hello Joey Blue-Sky!
