Vikings snatch up Berrian

bernard-berrian-td.jpg

After the Chicago Bears dissed and dismissed Muhsin Muhammad and his waning production in the Windy City, it was thought that after they tendered a one year contract to Rex Grossman that they would therefore go out and get some talent at the wideout position—or at least resign their star Bernard Berrian.

Well, they didn’t.

And as a bigger problem, Berrian not only left the Bears, he signed with division rival Minnesota and their team that is definitely on the upswing. Berrian should provide a great target for the Vikings and also free up Adrian Peterson (even though that didn’t make much of a difference—which is scary). He should get more touches and probably more production than he could in Chicago, so it was a great move on his part.

The Bears, however, will now have to seek out some major talent to find—and quick. The bigger names are starting to fall off the board, and while there are some veteran receivers they could pick up fairly cheap, they may want to go big—if they are wanting to compete with the Packers and the Vikings next year—otherwise, not only will they fail, but it will definitely mean the end for Grossman if he has no one to throw to.
