Terrell Owens: Other Man's Trash Is Al Davis' Treasure

It's looking more and more likely that Terrell Owens won't be in a Dallas Cowboys uniform when the 2009 season begins. Jerry Jones' son, Stephen Jones is lobbying hard for an Owens release or trade and while there is still a base of support for Owens within the Cowboys organization, the list of beat writers predicting his Dallas departure is growing daily.

So the next logical question is where does Terrell Owens end up? If history has taught us anything, one would expect Al Davis to be waiting with open arms. When Randy Moss was finished in Minnesota, Al Davis was there. When Javon Walker was booted out of Denver, Al Davis was there. Actually, not only did Al Davis sign Javon Walker after Denver concluded that he couldn't run on his two rickety reconstructed knees, but Davis threw $55 million over 6 years to the speed-walking Walker. According to Raiders beat write Steve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times, Owens in Silver and Black makes perfect sense...

"Terrell Owens has Raider written all over him, and Al Davis is the kind of owner who would allow Owens to be the person he is as long as he produces in games."
Perhaps the bigger issue will be money. In Raiders economics, if Javon Walker's production of 15 catches and 196 yards is worth $55 million, how much will Owens get from the Bank of Al? At least Owens can still play at a high level, but if Javon Walker netted approx. $750K per catch last year, we're thinking Owens (approx. 70 catches) should get at least $52 million per season?
