Super Bowl XLIII: Kurt Warner Wants $18 Million Contract Extension From Cardinals

It was a tough loss for Kurt Warner who came within a sniff of winning his 2nd Super Bowl ring. But now that the Super Bowl is over and the offseason (is there still such a thing?) has begun, Kurt Warner is officially a free agent.

While he continues to float the word 'retire' as a possibility, we're not buying that as anything more than a Grecian-Formula negotiating tactic. Rumors are that Kurt Warner is now looking for a 2-year $18 million contract from Arizona, and with the threat of pretty-boy draft-bust Matt Leinart as their only other starting option, we're guessing Warner gets his payday. If Cardinals owner Bidwell can't break the bank for Warner and Leinart actually does start the 2009 season, we're thinking he'll have to move his residence to Pittsburgh.
