Super Bowl 39: Who Won The Pre-Game?

Super Bowl 39: Who Won The Pre-Game?

super_bowlSo we're right back where we started. Both the Eagles and Patriots will end the season exactly as it began for both teams on August 13th. Who knew that a preseason game could be so prophetic, instead of just pathetic? Then again, if that first preseason game really is a prophecy there isn't much point in the Eagles showing up for the Super Bowl. Ok, I'm sure they'll show, but the real question, the question that will be asked, and asked, and speculated upon, and then asked some more to the point where you just need a vacation from 'the question', is;

Will T.O. play?

Never before, and perhaps never again will two letters be printed and reported on as much as they will over the next fortnight. I'm just trying to prepare you, that's all. You'll wish those letters really stood for 'timeout' and not some flashy wide receiver's initials with an ego the size of gods, and an injury that ironically puts him where he's always dreamed of being; the biggest story of the Super Bowl *cough* Pre-game.

You see, the Super Bowl game is over-rated. It only lasts 3.5 hours. But the Pre-game? That's a full 2 weeks! T.O's won the biggest game of all, the Super Bowl Pre-game, it's so his. You want to talk about man-to-man, 3-4, cover-2, forget it. How about global-blanket coverage? If T.O. limps to the urinal at 3 AM, we'll know about it, and so will Johan in Denmark. Belichick's Lombardi-esq run? Tom Brady's best Joe Montana impersonation? All just junior-grade news fodder, kicked aside by a Sharpie signing, Texas-star stomping, gumby-legged, injured freak. And you thought Peyton Manning called too many audibles? Wait until you see and hear how many audibles Andy Reid calls over the next two weeks on T.O.

Has his broken leg mended enough for T.O. to suit up and take the field?
"I have a feeling he will," said Eagles coach Andy Reid after the game.
30 minutes later, after Andy Reid digests the fact that the Jedi Knight has already been gameplanning the Eagles for several hours...

"I got caught up in the emotion," Reid responded when asked about Owens 30 minutes later. "We'll see. We'll see."

And so it begins. It's the Boston Tea Party Ship versus the Liberty Bell. It's Monument Square versus Independence National Historical Park. It's Patriots versus Eagles, coming up...next month.

If you're the kind of person that reads the last page before you read the book; see below;
T.O. will play. It won't matter. Resistance is futile. Belichick will win, again. His daughter will suit-up, play and get an INT. This is getting redundant.
