Saints sign Glenn to help secondary

aaronglenn.jpg

Aaron Glenn was not exactly the most sought after cornerback in the offseason, but his name still holds some merit. So when the New Orleans Saints knew that they had to shore up their pass defense, they looked to Glenn, who is fifth in the league for active interception leaders. This should definitely help.

Or....will it?

The Saints already went out and got Randall Gay, who is still probably on the upward swing of his career, even though he has had injury problems the last two years. And now they go out and sign Glenn, who played his best ball years ago--he has played 14 years ago. So for as much that was out there at the beginning of the offseason, the Saints certainly haven't really been aggressive as they probably could have been.

Considering that Glenn has had 41 interceptions in his career--and that out of those 41, he's had a whopping 2 over the past two years, and only played in 5 games last year, he is definitely in the swan song of his career. This could prove to be an incredibly savvy move if both players can stay healthy, but it could also prove to be one of the stupidest moves overall for the year too. I guess there's something to say for living on the edge, eh?
