Romo is burning--with money, that is

Well, it's not often that a QB can come in to a storied franchise and win 12 of his first 17. It's not often that records are set in terms of TDs thrown in a game for a guy that has almost no experience. And, it's almost unheard of for the same guy to sign a contract within a year that gives him guaranteed money only beaten by a couple of other studly QBs.

But, this is Tony Romo we're talking about.

Guaranteeing himself 30 million buckaroos, Romo signed a six-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys, almost solidifying that his career will be spend playing for "America's Team". All in all, he'll make 67M. That's some nice change for a guy from a Division I-AA school who'd been on the payroll for 52 games before he'd even thrown a pass.

But--is this too early? Probably not for owner Jerry Jones, who suffered under eight terrible QBs after his boytoy Troy Aikman retired. Romo is good--but I don't think he is all that and a bag of chips. Win a division title on your own and I'll start to think about it. Get to the conference championship and then maybe I'll give you a nod. Win the Super Bowl and then we're talking.

But--a year to the day after you took your first snap? I know Jones is a commando, but COME ON.
