Rivers questionable for AFC Championship

chargers.gif

One of the biggest stories in the San Diego Chargers upset of the Indianapolis Colts was the last drive the Bolts had without starting QB Philip Rivers and RB Ladanian Tomlinson. Backups Billy Volek and Michael Turner lead the team down the field, along with some clutch receptions from Vincent Jackson, and SD went on to victory.

LT has been cleared to play in the AFC Championship against the juggernaut New England Patriots. However, Rivers is still listed as questionable. When he left the game in the fourth quarter, he noticeably limped and his knee looked to be in bad shape. However, not having him for this game versus the Patriots could be more detrimental than the team not having LT.

What? Come again? Rivers is more valuable than the NFL rushing leader?

Actually, at this point--yes. Rivers is the heart and soul of the team, his passion and confidence is really starting to show. Either you love him or you hate him, and for the Chargers to have a fighting chance against the undefeated Patriots, they will need his character out on the field. LT is a great player, but the kind of guy that basically executes, a sort of Marvin Harrison type that is not flashy. That's wonderful and all, but in order for San Diego to pull an epic upset, they need the emotional aspect that Rivers brings.
