Redskins cope with loss of friend and teammate

He had a baby girl just 18 months ago. He was a great all-around man. He had a great season and had been with the Redskins for 3 years. And now, Sean Taylor is dead.

After an intruder broke into where Taylor and girlfriend, Jackie Garcia, slept, the intruder shot twice and hit Taylor in the femoral artery, where he lost too much blood. While he didn't die immediately, he did fight for his life, but even after he seemed to improve, Taylor passed away. The league, the team, the coaches, and the owner have been devastated by the loss, and Joe Gibbs has been quoted that the team is going "hour by hour".

Washington plans to honor Taylor by wearing #21 patches, and the league will more than likely be doing something around the stadiums as a show of unity and respect. Taylor's death was another in a disturbing amount of deaths around the NFL in the last few years: Darrent Williams (Broncos player who was killed by a drive-by) and Thomas Herrion (heart attack) have died in just the past two years.

Rest in peace, Sean. You will be missed.
