RB by committee: Fantasy Owner's worst nightmare

I understand that every "real" owner and coach out there is leery of all the injuries that have occurred this year, and also understand that for those that are looking further into the playoffs, that if you look at statistics, the big backs are starting to get less and less carries. This is the whole second half planning effect that teams with already great chances of making it deep rolling the dice and giving more touches to lesser known backs in spot roles. Take for example, Joseph Addai--who started out the year carrying over 80% of the load for the Colts--until he really did get hurt, and understudy Kenton Keith came into the lineup and did well--even though Addai had a fab game against the Panthers, Keith still got a decent amount of carries.

In Cincinnati, they may even be going to a 3 back committee, with Kenny Watson, Rudi Johnson, and DeDe Dorsey (mental note: never name a kid DeDe unless he DOES become a football player). It's long been done in Denver to have a conga line rotation of backs, and many teams are having to do it purely as damage control.

So what does this mean for fantasy owners? Well, it just makes that crystal ball that much foggier--and makes RBs even more valuable. Not only are you going to have more advantage by having a team that has a workhorse and goal line gives just based on the player alone, but you will more than likely be facing someone who may or may not be in this situation--so if you are strong at QB and WR, consider throwing the dice on the craps table and seeing if you can dangle them for another RB--it can't hurt, and plus we all know how liquid WRs are. Think about it.....
