Ok, so the Pats haven't exactly been bookmaker-friendly this year, as they have basically blown the doors off of every spread that they have meandered along, and with verve. So when the line was set against Philadelphia this week, the linesmakers started high at 17 in favor of you-know-who, and then the news leaked that Donovan McNabb was not practicing.
(In my best John Madden voice)BOOM! The line went north...18,19, 20, 21, 22, 23, and has finally settled on 24. Bookmakers are dumbfounded, because if this holds by game time, this would be the largest NFL game spread in recent history. Is that disrespecting the Eagles? Nope, it's just much love for the Patriots, who seem to be headed for a destiny with going undefeated.
Of course, this is also fueled by the fact that the "Evil Empire", as some jealous media outlets have proclaimed the team, is running up the scores for stat-padding and simply being, well, asses. I know that Bill Belichick is a ruthless SOB, but come on--even he is smarter than that. Perhaps if anyone could defend this mega-giant, it would be different...don't hate tha playa, hate the gaaaaaaaaaame........
