Panthers cut bait with Foster

deshaunfoster.jpg DeShaun Foster was supposed to be the "next" back to lead the Carolina Panthers back to the pinnacle they had in reaching the NFC championship a few short years ago. However, what happened was not exactly....the "next". Foster had a plethora of injuries and failed to break the 1000 yard mark for the past two seasons, and correspondingly, the Panthers didn't even make the playoffs.

While you can't blame Foster for the Panthers final tally, you can at least place some emphasis on the fact that he didn't work out very well-at all. After the team brought in rookie DeAngelo Williams to split time last year, Foster should have known the writing was on the wall. Still, he didn't perform up to snuff. So, after trying to shop him for a week, the Panthers decided it was best to part ways with their once-hyped back.

Now Williams has the reigns and the title of the "next". Hopefully the Panthers will get settled in at QB finally and keep Jake Delhomme and his backfield relatively unscathed (if you can't tell, I am telling Panthers management to DRAFT SOME LINEMAN, for crying out loud).
