A picture of a man who should probably just keep his mouth shut.
I'm a couple of days late on this, but just couldn't let this story go without a post. Apparently PacMan Jones is a bit angry about his season long suspension and is going to appeal it after 10 games this season. His comments in the article probably don't help his cause much though...
"I think it was a little bit harsh. I expected the suspension, but for a whole year for a guy that hadn't been charged with nothing? I really didn't agree with it. But for the most part, I'm taking it like a man. I'm going to appeal it. We'll see what the future brings."
Just a guess, but the future probably brings a season long suspension. In the NFL your appeal is heard by...drumroll please....Roger Goodell. This is the same man that handed down that season long suspension and doesn't seem like the kind of guy who will just up and change his mind on something. Especially when the words, "I'm sorry," don't appear anywhere in those comments. All that's there is some "poor me" stuff about how he's been wronged because he hasn't been charged (yet). I hate to say this, but even if you weren't charged I think being questioned by police 10 (!) times since joining the league is probably enough to warrant a suspension. He probably didn't help himself out with these comments either.
"Clearly -- you know, for a guy that hadn't been charged -- I'm clearly made to be the poster boy."
That's right everyone, PacMan is just the poster boy for the NFL's new policy to have tougher standards on off-field hijinks. You should probably get yourself a PR rep who will help you on how to gain favor from someone you need to appeal your suspension to. Not being contrite and saying that you're just the "poster boy" isn't going to gain you brownie points. At least he's confident in what's going to happen though.
""What I'm going to do, I'm going to work out every day and make sure I'm in top-tip shape. But come Week 11, I plan on being back on the field."
That's fantastic. Not only is there no apology, but he even has the stones to say that he's planning on being on the field THIS SEASON! I will say that he should probably be focused on the investigation of that shooting he may have been involved in over NBA All Star Weekend. I don't think you can play football if you end up in jail. Just sayin...
