NFL Word of the day: Tibia

glenndorsey315.jpg

The weeks and months prior to the NFL draft, player's "stock" usually fluctuates from several different factors: the Combine, psychological testing, contractual rumors, character issues, and the biggest and most potentially damaging one--injuries. In Glenn Dorsey's case, the last one could prove to be a major factor in his draft position--and therefore mean millions of dollars.

It was revealed that in 2006 Dorsey had a hairline fracture in his tibia that happened when he bumped into a weight in the weight room while working out in the summer before the 2006-2007 season. He played through that injury as well as a sprained right knee this past season. Dorsey has not acted concerned at all, as he noted that he did not miss a single game while at LSU.

Draft prognosticators have pretty much placed Dorsey anywhere from 1 to 5 in the draft, and that of course depends on who trades up with who and how. You can bet, though, that when Dorsey does work out for several teams on March 26th that they will question and push that tibia to see the physical ramifications of such.
