NFL Kickoff Weekend announced

nfl.jpg

As discussed in an earlier post, the NFL had been pressured by the GOP as far as the opening game to push the game up because of the Republican National convention. Well, folks, politicians always seem to get their way, don't they? The opener, pitting the New York Giants (World Champion, that is) against rival Washington on the Thursday opener--starting 90 minutes earlier than normal. Eh, whattyagonnado?

In other action, the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears will play at the brand spankin' new Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday night, a rematch of Super Bowl XLI. Monday Night Football will actually be a doubleheader--Packers versus Vikings and the Raiders playing the later West coast game against the Broncos in the other. It should be great matchups all the way around.

Kind of makes you wonder if the Packers-Vikings matchup was originally supposed to be the only game, but after Brett Favre retired, perhaps ESPN scrambled with the NFL to get another game for ratings. As it is now, the Raiders-Broncos game will probably be the better of the two overall. Are you ready for some football?
