NFL Draft Preview: Seattle Seahawks

seahawkslogo.jpg

The Seattle Seahawks are in their last year with Mike Holmgren as their coach, but that doesn't mean that they are continuing with his philosophies necessarily; with soon to be head coach Jim Mora Jr. already in tow, the Seahawks have continued to be aggressive with getting players during the offseason and even decided to cut loose former NFL MVP Shaun Alexander; it is evident it is going to be the start of a new era in Seatown.

So, onto the draft! Even though the 'Hawks took Julius Jones from the Cowboys, he's really on the decline after the Cowboys had him carry the ball like 4 gazillion times a season until they discovered "lightning and thunder" with Marion Barber. So, they should get someone to really get things going again long-term in the running game. Likewise, tight end is a concern, as the same could be said for Marcus Pollard, who's best years were in Indy. The offensive line is following a similar pattern: their best years are behind them. In a nutshell, this is a team that has some talent but is a little long in the tooth.

With the 25th pick of the first round, the Seahawks are eyeing Jonathan Stewart, which is a steal--in my opinion--this late. He will be a good addition and also carries a lot of fanbase already--being that he played in Oregon. If he is not available, Kentwan Balmer would be a logical choice as well.
