NFL Draft Preview: Cleveland Browns

brownsdawg.gif

The Browns had a great year--a year that really was above the vast majority of expectations that fans and NFL "experts" really foresaw; the vision was that Brady Quinn would be in and take his licks along with the W-L record, but along came Derek Anderson, and the Cleveland Browns became one of the most feared teams in the NFL--but alas, it was too little too late, as they just barely missed the playoffs.

That's a good thing--because now that it's draft time, you need to remember one number: 122. That's the first pick of the draft that the Browns have, and by that time they may have to be considering the fourth string linebacker from St. Mary's or me. Just kidding....but I do have a lot of heart on the field to make up for my non-athleticness, which can't be a bad thing, right? Anyway, I digress....

When it does finally come time to wake up the Cleveland brass to make their pick, they will more than likely look for the best on the board from the following positions: running back, defensive back, and the linebacking corps. For one, the Browns will probably look to defense first--because their offense seems to be clicking even though Jamal Lewis had a decent year, but is way past his peak. On the defensive backfield, they are young and while they have some depth, they probably could look that direction just to add to the youth movement they have there as well. Linebacking-wise, it's one of the same things like Lewis' situation-they are getting old and probably need to look for some young blood.
