NFL Draft Preview: Arizona Cardinals

Arizona-Cardinals-Logo.gif

Ahh, Arizona. It seems that the more they do to try to get to the promised land, it doesn't do all that much for them in the long run. For years the team has toiled under different coaches and different leaders, but the result has been the same: watching the playoffs from home. However, it seems that every year hope springs eternal, and so another draft year could bring better things to 'Zona...but is this team really just the football version of the Chicago Cubs?

Anyways, enough with the philosophy....as far as the draft needs go, cornerback is a position that is in dire need for simple personnel and depth--they don't have much talent and Antrel Rolle is now a safety. They need a cornerback--now. Running back is another place to concentrate on--Edgerrin James' best years are behind him and while he has been solid there, he's not worth his contract and is now 30 years old. There are a lot of good running backs to get in there now and ready to go maybe not this year but maybe next.

The Cardinals should go after Dominique Rogers-Cromartie, who will more than likely be available for the 16th pick when it's their turn, but pros are saying that they will more than likely go after running back Rashard Mendenhall, a bull back from Illinois who, to me, is a sleeper running back in the draft overall, and should do well in the Cardinals' scheme.
