Jeepers! Super Bowl Champs Dethroned

surprised.jpg

I know that upsets happen, but I really don't think anyone other than fans in San Diego saw this one coming. With a 10 point edge and starting their run at defending their 2006-07 Super Bowl Championship, plus having the one week off and being at home...well, you get the picture. The Colts were overwhelming favorites, and got bumped off by the Chargers in a wild second half that had LaDanian Tomlinson out and Philip Rivers hurt, but it didn't matter--Billy Volek and Michael Turner made sure that the Chargers won the game with a classic drive, and Peyton Manning had two shots at scoring to win the game but couldn't get the job done.

While everyone was waiting for what was supposed to be an inevitable battle between the Colts and the Patriots, now the Chargers have to travel to Foxboro to take them on. As much as I would have liked to have seen that, San Diego was the better team today. Congrats to Norv Turner and the Chargers.

However, they had better get healthy if they want to even get close to the Pats. Otherwise, Tom Brady will have a field day and Rodney Harrison may end up tearing someone's head off. (It could happen...)
