Jacksonville-New England NFL Playoff Preview

jac.jpg

It's the newest version of David vs. Goliath. The big, bad Patriots, sitting at 16-0, at home in Foxboro, taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars, who even though they sit now at 12-5, are not even being looked at in this game after they upset Pittsburgh at Heinz Field (I called that).

So, really, there's no point in previewing this game then, right? Nope. Even though the Patriots lead the league in passing offense, pass yards, and points scored, they've had to really move themselves up a level in some tighter games near the end of the season. The defense is one of the best in the league overall, but again in the later games of the season, they have been beat up a lot more. Meanwhile, the Jags have been playing superior ball, rushing the ball like mad, and the defense stepped it up quite a bit.

I'd love to say the Jags can pull it off, but I won't be that bold this week. Many are clamoring about the pressure that the Pats have to finish perfect may get the best of them, but you forget about what the Patriots have already accomplished in having 3 Super Bowls previously, and their coach that has no heart :) I think that Pats are already looking ahead to the Colts, but that won't stop them from beating a very good Jacksonville team. New England prevails 35-24.
