Jacksonville Jaguars: The Trendy Pick

byron_leftwichJacksonville Jaguars: The Trendy Pick

Just when you thought they were so 1999. The Jaguars are hip again. The Super Bowl is in Jacksonville this year. People are picking them to be the 'Patriots' of the 2004 season.

I predict that the Jags will be the next "worst to first" team. - Sports Commentator: Matthew Ross

It's raining Jaguars these days. And truth be told, they're close to being a great team. Their a hard-nosed defensive team with a stud in Fred Taylor controlling the ball on offense. The difference between this team being good or great lies completely in the hands of Byron Leftwich. Leftwich has the rarest blend of passing proficiency and skillful mobility. Think, Daunte Culpepper Lite. He's only in his second season as the full-time starter and may require more time to grow. But if he can mature quickly and have his breakout season in 2004, the sky is the limit for this group of fashionable cats.

They remind me of the Tennessee Titans of 1998, who went 8-8. The following year the Titans improved their defense and a young, emerging Steve McNair rode them to the Super Bowl. - Stephen Nover: Covers.com
