Holy Records, Batman! Adrian Peterson rushes into history

When Adrian Peterson went down with a bad leg injury in his senior year for Oklahoma, NFL experts twinged, not knowing exactly what that fateful break would do for his career. While he came into that year being the overwhelming favorite for the Heisman, the injury was still a HUGE question mark come draft time.

Now, after a game earlier in the year that he ran wild against the normally-tough Bears for over 200 yards, Peterson set the single game rushing record versus the Chargers (another seemingly tough team against the run) for 296 yards.

I guess we can stop guessing what the injury meant to his career.

And--to boot-this game had yet another record in it. Peterson scored two of his three touchdowns and gained 253 yards in the second half, helping the Vikings rally from a 14-7 deficit. They trailed at the half after Antonio Cromartie plucked a missed field goal out of the air and returned it 109 yards for a touchdown, the longest play in NFL history.

Peterson's 315 total yards were more than nine of the 17 other teams who played in the same time slot Sunday: Kansas City (234), San Diego (229), Denver (303), San Francisco (251), Atlanta (286), Arizona (195), Cincinnati (299), Carolina (199) and Tennessee (236).

Wow.
