Henry released--finally

henryjail.jpg

Former NFL receiver (yes I said former) and Ex-Bengal (yes, I said Ex) Chris Henry is out on bail--finally. He actually posted bail on Thursday night, but because the court had ordered electronic monitoring and they didn't have one at the time, he had to wait to be released until Friday. Henry was arrested for punching a guy in the face and breaking his car window with a beer bottle. Hours after he was arrested, the Bengals said Sayonara to him.

This was the fifth--yes, I said fifth--time that Henry has been arrested since 2005. Ok, most people do not get arrested five times in their LIFE much less in the last 3 years. Henry should have been dropped by the Bengals a long time ago, and the dismissal surprises no one. What would surprise me if he is able to be picked up by some one in the near future. Obviously teams have been gunshy after Pacman Jones has basically spit on the NFL and their image, and Henry hasn't done the league much better--regardless if his has been less sensationalized by the press.

Of course, the argument can be made that anyone who is arrested should get a chance to work again, maybe even in the same profession if that wasn't exactly where the crime occurred. But the NFL is a different stage--and to me, it's similar to if a person is arrested as a teacher for a sex crime---because of the nature and the stigma with this, the person will not be ever--ever--allowed to teach again. Henry shouldn't be allowed to ever be on an NFL again. He's disgraced himself and the league one--no make that five--too many times.
