Giants have another mountain to climb

tynes.jpg

Three games as underdogs. Three games on the road. Three victories.

After improbable victories against Tampa Bay and heavy favorites Dallas and Green Bay, the New York Giants, riding solid defense when it counts and Eli Manning's leadership, now have reached the "Mount Everest" of all teams and games--The Super Bowl and the New England Patriots. Opening lines for the games have the Giants as two TD underdogs.

And they wouldn't have it any other way.

The Patriots are standing at 18-0 and unceremoniously won the AFC Championship, with a bend-but-don't-break defense and an uninspired showing from NFL MVP Tom Brady. The Giants won in exuberant fashion in Green Bay behind a huge field goal by Lawrence Tynes, who had previously missed 2 chippies in the fourth quarter.

The fact that the game is two weeks away has huge implications for both teams. It could mean that the Giants grab even more confidence, or it could mean they crumble under the pressure. And...it could mean the same thing for the Pats.
