Getting to Know the 2007 NFL Schedule: Week Five

favre_brett.jpg

Pictures like this are porn for John Madden

Week five of the 2007 NFL season is shaping up to be one with a lot of hit and miss matchups, but maybe one of the bad teams will have a good start and make things interesting. For now though, here are the games to look out for.

GAMES TO WATCH

Sunday, 10/7

FALCONS at TITANS, 1 PM

Get your QB Spy packages ready! I'm guessing this is not going to be a game where somebody's pass defense is going to get torched, but I'm sure there will be a TON of crazy QB scrambles. Should be fun to watch, and I'm sure a lot of people will be playing this very same matchup in Madden 08 this year.

JAGUARS at CHIEFS, 1 PM

The Jags have a very good defensive line, and the Chiefs like to run the ball down your throat. Which one wins? We all do. Or it could be a defensive struggle and a boring game....either way.

JETS "at" GIANTS, 1 PM

I always laugh when they actually put the "at" in this game. I think the only thing that determines is which team wears dark uniforms and which fans get the game in their season ticket package. How pist are you if you're a Jets fan and your season ticket package doesn't get you tickets to this game even with the Jets playing in their home stadium? I don't know if the game itself will be any good, but anytime you get two teams from the same city playing against each other it's at least going to be interesting.

CHARGERS at BRONCOS, 4 PM

This game could go a long way in determining who wins the AFC West. I think the Broncos are going to have a bounce back year after going "only" 9-7 last year with the QB position in flux. The Chargers were the best team in the NFL last season, and I don't expect that to change with Marty gone, though losing Wade Philips could hurt the defense. Either way though, this game is one you should probably keep an eye on because it could mean a lot come December.

BEARS at PACKERS, 8 PM

The 2005, 2006, 2007 season could be the last for Brett Favre. As such this could/will be the last time he will face the rival Bears at Lambeau Field. If you were unaware of this, don't worry because the announcers will pound this point into your skull about 3,000 or 4,000 times during the course of this game. This game could also feature an NFL record for total interceptions as "gunslinger" Rex Grossman matches Favre horrible pass, for horrible pass. What will be funny is watching John Madden explain why Favre's terrible interception is better than Grossman's even though they are basically the same. Madden's man-crush on Favre is legendary, and there could be only a few more times to "enjoy" it. This would the game I would tell you to avoid, if it weren't for this abomination....

WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINKING?

Does THIS man look like he deserves to be featured on Monday Night Football?

Monday, 10/8

COWBOYS at BILLS, 8:30 PM

You're kidding me right? This CAN'T be the Monday Night game can it? Seriously? This may the worst "on paper" Monday Night Football game I've ever seen. Now some games have been stinkers in the past because it featured two teams that were good the previous season and then failed to live up to expectations, but at least when they made the schedule it looked like a good matchup. This game just looks TERRIBLE. The Cowboys were a playoff team last year, but that's not saying to much, and the Bills were 7-9. I don't know about you, but that sure sounds like a game I want to see on Monday Night. I'm at a loss for words. Look for the lowest ratings for MNF ever here, especially if both these teams limp in with losing records (and both easily could).
