Footblog's Off The IR

So what happened to Footblog? If you've been checking in on this blog since February, you certainly deserve some sort of an explanation. And based on the traffic stats, there are a lot of you who have kept Footblog on your radar/LCD screens despite an elongated lapse in postings.

Truth be told, Footblog was never supposed to be left this long unattended. The plan was to take a couple of months off from February to April and begin posting and preparing for the 2005 training camps at that time. That was the plan.

But things changed when I decided to take my blogging efforts in a different direction. I decided to start developing a network of blogs, called the Dailypixel Network. Instead of blogging singularly on Footblog, I was knee-deep in software code, database hell and graphic design in an attempt at getting a good handle on how to stitch together a network of multiple blogs. Footblog in essence became a casualty of this process.

Traffic to Footblog tailed off quite a bit once the Super Bowl rush was over. I just assumed that Footblog had kind of slipped into a traffic coma, and I would just start from scratch with Footblog whenever I was ready to get back to writing about my #1 passion - fantasy football.

Finally, two weeks ago I decided that it was time to resurrect Footblog, begin merging the old design into Dailypixel's network template and kick this season off already, albeit many months too late. I was a little bummed that I had to start over in terms of finding my readership again, but I deserved nothing less. Or so I thought. Well, you can imagine the look on my face when after re-starting the traffic monitoring on the 'coming soon' page 14 days ago and came to the realization that thousands of unique weekly visits were still coming to Footblog!

I'm blown away. The only thing I have to say is 'thank you'. Thanks for keeping Footblog on your bookmark lists, delicious lists, whatever lists. Thank you!

I'm back.
Footblog's back.

And I'm darn happy about it.

Let's roll!
