Davis apologizes for missing practice

F_Davis_052008_ia.jpg

If there's one thing a rookie does NOT need going into preseason camp, it is more fuel to the veteran's fire. And not only did Fred Davis of the Washington Redskins give them fuel, he gave them a full tank (which is probably about what his contract will be worth) to play with after he missed practice earlier this week.

The reason? He switched hotel rooms and overslept (geez, Fred, at least come up with something better--like you saved an old lady from a streaking car or something?) Rookies usually share rooms in a local hotel during minicamp, but Davis said he decided to move to a private room Saturday night without telling the Redskins. Davis denied that he had been out late the night before.

Davis is not a bad guy, but it's certainly not something to really start off doing--especially with changing to a private room--makes him seem a little prima-donna-ish. But he has apologized for it, and it's unknown whether he'll have a fine or suspension attached to it--his embarrassment may be enough for the 'Skins.
