comes this spat of bad news for the Miami Dolphins and their rising star tight-end Randy McMichael;
Miami Dolphins tight end Randy McMichael was arrested Tuesday for allegedly hitting his pregnant wife.
McMichael was charged with aggravated battery on a pregnant woman, a second-degree felony that is punishable by up to 15 years in prison, Broward County sheriff's officials said. He was in Broward County Jail without bond Tuesday. - Associated Press
While this is all still 'alleged' and all facts are still not known, it does exacerbate why this two month hiatus between the break of coaching sessions and the start of training camps is the absolute worst time of year for NFL head coaches. Nothing good can possibly come from having your entire roster of testosterone-laden specimens running amok without the rigorous structure and protection that an NFL organization provides for it's athletic assets. Coaches exert control over the lives of their players for as much as 9 months of the year, and this is exactly why head coaches open the morning paper with a squinted eye and baited breath each day that passes until training camps open at the end of July. For Miami Dolphins head coach Dave Wannstedt, that day didn't come soon enough.
