Crash Course--Indy and New England set to battle

And so all of the NFL officials and television executives got their wish: A November 4th battle of undefeated juggernauts Indianapolis Colts and the New England Patriots. The drama is almost palpable--the rematch of the AFC championship, Tom Brady gunning for Peyton Manning's TD record, the bitter rivalry that has ensued over the years, former Colts killer Adam Vinatieri now kicking through the uprights for Indy, the fact that two teams are facing each other still unbeaten in November, and we can't forget Randy Moss in the mix now. What else can you ask for?

I'll tell you what you can ask for--parity.

Right now, the Pats and the Colts are the class of the league. Sure, the Cowboys are 6-1 and the Packers are 6-1 as well, but come on--do you really think that any of these teams facing up to the AFC bullies that they would have a chance? Dallas may have the best chance--but they still couldn't do it--not a chance.

But even with that--having the game of the year right now with these two teams, I believe, is a bad thing for the NFL, as it shows the huge canyon of the talent level overall. It's better to get to the playoffs with the drama as to the "anybody can win it" mentality. At this point, all it seems like this game is a precursor to the real Super Bowl--the AFC Championship.
