Colts snoozing through signing period

Coltsblanket.gif

Even a team like the New England Patriots, who lost one single solitary game, will be more than likely active in the free agency signing period. They’ve been involved in rumors over dropped players and certainly will be trying to keep their record-setting receiver in Randy Moss. For the most part, teams will be making some moves, either major or minor, but you can count the Indianapolis Colts out of the fray.

With over 225 million dollars locked up in returning players, the Colts don’t really plan on doing much—if anything—during the signing period. While there are still some questions surrounding Marvin Harrison’s future, the Colts feel very good about resigning Dallas Clark and Ryan Lilja and continuing to keep their core players intact.

I don’t know how much I agree with this—the Colts are good, no doubt, but there’s no reason why you can’t continue to improve. They should be looking at something exactly like the Patriots and not just standing pat (no pun intended). Will this work out in Tony Dungy’s last year? We’ll see….
