Colts sign Clark for six more years

dclark.jpg

Dallas Clark may have been left off the pro bowl squad, but his team knew how valuable he was. While the terms were of course not disclosed, the Indianapolis Colts signed Clark to a six-year extension and by doing so more than likely put him as one, if not the, highest paid tight ends in the league.

Not only is this a reward that was well-earned, it also solved any headaches the Colts could have had by allowing Clark's contract issue to go into the spring and therefore cause the team distraction. In the process, they have also signed Ryan Lilja, and at this point, all of their stars are locked up, and going into what is supposed to be Tony Dungy's last season coaching the Colts, Indy is looking primed to make another run at the Super Bowl.

Clark stepped up big last year when perennial star Marvin Harrison went down and Reggie Wayne was given the #1 reigns. While rookie Anthony Gonzalez came on big at the end of the year, it was Clark's consistent play and never-say-die attitude that kept the Colts churning throughout what was a pretty awful year injury-wise. Good move, Indy.
