After the first game of the season, many fantasy owners are scratching their heads, not only because the lack of Drew Brees performance (until his last long pass of the game his completion average for a game was the lowest in NFL history), Reggie Bush's dissapearing act, but because it was against a defense that was basically laughable last year--The Colts. After last year's second-to-last ranking in running yards given and a high ppg against them, the logical thought was that the Saints would put up some big numbers against them on opening day.
Not even close.
So, after two INTs, stuffing the Bush/Deuce McAllister running attack, and a TD return, are the Colts something to consider? In the words of the great Lee Corso--Not so fast my friend!!!
While the performance was impressive nonetheless, in fantasy terms, this defense/special teams is still very scary--and when you consider that they still are young at many positions, the experience and grind of the NFL will take their toll, and because obviously the Colts put up a lot of points, the logic again is that the PPG will continue to rise--so, while they may be considered a good team to get on a bye week, picking them up based on this game is just fool's gold.
