Can Indy finally grab Super Bowl?

stadium4.jpg

Last year, it really came down to Dallas and Indianapolis for the 2011 Super Bowl bid. While there was some hope in the circle city, most knew that by the time the decision day was upon them that Dallas was going to get it after Jerry Jones went all out in planning and schmoozing the NFL brass. Now, with the 2012 Super Bowl bid on the line to be announced this week, Indianapolis is once again in the mix along with Phoenix and Houston as the other front-runners, and officials are more confident than ever.

The huge factor is the brand sparkling new Lucas Oil Stadium that will be one of the biggest and brightest arenas in the NFL. With a controllable "atmosphere" in a retractable roof plus amenities as far as the eye can see, it is certainly within reach. But will they ultimately be able to pull the bid? I mean, they are really fighting against some pretty large factors in the Super Bowl "history" and also stigmas.

The fact is, Indianapolis is a cold weather town, regardless of the new fancy schmancy stadium. It will be in February, and with the NFL wanting to bring in as many thousands of people as they would any place else, it is certainly a concern. Indianapolis officials have really tried to fight this, but of course fighting against ultra-warm weather Phoenix and Houston, it could be the one thing that really decides everything.
