Bye-Bye to Byes

Woohoo! No more having to go to the bottom of the barrel of the waiver wire to get a living, breathing soul into your lineup! No more having to see if the guy who was just signed to the practice squad will get a few carries so that you can match up to Joseph Addai! This week represents the first week in quite some time where there are no more bye weeks for teams.

If you have to continue to worry about picking guys up off the waiver wire due to non-performers, I am assuming that you are also looking for a quick exit out of your fantasy playoffs. Bottom line--you should have at least a solid starting core now and decent backups. Injuries are one thing, but performance this deep in the season shouldn't be a reason that you are getting rid of someone. While the bye weeks are great for the NFL, they absolutely suck for fantasy football players, who don't have the luxury (wouldn't that be nice?).

It is still important for you to at least look for upgrades on the waiver wire due to those nasty injuries--if you have a decent performer but someone else becomes available that could be better because of someone else going down, by all means get them--but it should be a long-term pickup at this point.
