Boulware bolsters Vikings Secondary

082507boulware.jpg

No, not that Boulware. I know it's an odd name, but the most famous is Peter Boulware--I'm talking about Michael Boulware. The latter was added to the Minnesota Vikings to help in their secondary, which they need a lot of--help, that is. After letting Dwight Smith go and not retaining Tank Williams and Mike Doss, the Vikings actually were in desperate need of another safety.

But Boulware? Was he really the best available? Houston acquired him from Seattle last year in the hopes of making him a starter, but his effort in camp was not up to snuff and he ended up just basically playing on special teams the entire year. In fact, his production since he came into the league in 2004 has gradually deteriorated, not a good sign for what is supposed to be a skill position.

So evidently the Vikings must have been beyond desperate, in my opinion. Darren Sharper is the class of the secondary, but he is getting older, and while his production is still good, you can't count on him forever, especially with injury issues that may crop out. So if you are playing against the Vikings, pass---alot.
