Benson out, Peterson In for Bears

It was a huge run--21 yards to be exact. Then Denver DB Hamza Abdullah ran Cedric Benson down and tackled him.

And that was it.

Benson was carted off the field, and will not return for this season. He has a lower leg injury that will require surgery, and thus goes the strength of the Bears' running game. While Benson has not been exactly overpowering, he rushed for 674 yards this season on 196 carries, an average of 3.4 yards per carry. He also had 4 TDs.

Vet Adrian Peterson will take the bulk of the carries. No, not that Adrian Peterson--the Bears WISH they had that one. However, in limited duty, he has had a higher APG than Benson (3.6) with half as many TDs on a third of the carries, so perhaps this could be a good thing. Keep on telling yourself that, Bears fans, and maybe it will come true....The only people that should really be picking up Peterson are Benson owners and those who have had other debilitating injuries to their squad. Other than that, he's not worth it...
