Another day, another arrest in the NFL

djarrett.jpg

And this time, it's rookie receiver Dwayne Jarrett from the Carolina Panthers. Jarrett, who struggled from the get go after being a second round draft pick out of USC, was arrested in Charlotte after reporting for the team's offseason conditioning program for driving while intoxicated.

Evidently after 3 AM a police officer saw Jarrett's car cross the center line and he went through a red light, prompting the arrest. He was given sobriety tests and a Breathalyzer before being taken into custody. Panthers' brass has noted that this type of action is "unacceptable". Ya THINK? He's in town for the CONDITIONING program--does that include doing shots?

The thing is--this probably won't do too much in terms of his playing time with the Panthers. Carolina went out and signed Muhsin Muhammad as a mentor for Jarrett, as his first season with the Panthers was a total disaster performance-wise. This doesn't help.
