2007 NFL Fantasy Outlook: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay was 4-12 last year and they obviously needed some big-time offensive players. So what do they do? They draft 8 defensive players and 2 during the draft. So, what does this mean for them? Well--you can probably guess--but see below:

QB Jeff Garcia--How long has Garcia been playing? Isn't he like 206 years old? Well, although he has been around for what seems like forever, he still is decent in terms of quality starts--but with the lack of offensive punch overall, he shouldn't be much more than a waiver wire pick up or bye week fill in at this point.

RB Cadillac Williams--Although his rookie season was borderline phenomenal, his sophomore slump was even more striking, with only 1 trip to the end zone. Now, granted, he had eight in the box every time (when he played) because of the inefficiencies at QB, but still--what do we expect now? While he has GOT to be better this year, don't draft him any higher than the mid to late rounds or else you better buy stock in alka-seltzer.

WR Michael Clayton--another one who shot out during his rookie year to only be snuffed in his sophomore (and junior) year. He's an injury risk with a QB who can't really throw the long ball, which is Clayton's forte. The consensus--pass on this pass catcher unless you need a number 3 receiver or if you enjoy headaches.

QR Joey Galloway--While he has never been the flashy go-to guy pretty much anywhere he's been or "the one", Galloway has always seemed to put up consistent numbers where ever he's played, and he will be the Bucs' possession receiver. While that doesn't say much, he should be a good #2 receiver for any fantasy team. While week in and week out the numbers will fluctuate, overall he should be someone you can count on in a lesser role.

The Buccaneers could have made their team much more fantasy-pliable, but they went old school and are relying upon their defense to get the job done. While that may take a little bit of pressure off the offense, it still won't do well for fantasy owners. Proceed with caution.
