2007 NFL Fantasy Outlook: Seattle Seahawks

Seattle was one of the season's major dissapointments in 2007. The running game suffered, the passing game suffered, and the defense didn't look much better. And then--they lost their #1 receiver in Darrell Jackson. So--what does that mean now? Check it out...

QB Matt Hasselbeck--The former Brett Favre protege has been consistent throughout his years with the Seahawks, but last year was definitely an exception. With 15 picks in 12 games, Hasselbeck set career lows in efficiency. However, his game will rely upon the improvement of the running game--if it does, look for the numbers to go up--but if the team has to rely upon him solely again this year, don't expect much more than what happened in 2006.

RB Shaun Alexander--What happened? The stud turned into an afterthought in 2006. Not only are fantasy owners still leary of effects from injuries, but he coughed up the ball six times last year--and his YPC went down almost 2 yards. Concerning? Sure, but is he still good? You betcha. Talk him down at the draft and then grab him.

WR Deion Branch--some pubs are raving over the 'Hawks pickup of Branch, but I just don't get it. Jackson was proven, Jackson was solid, Branch really hasn't been able to carry a team as a #1, yet Seattle goes after Branch? Doesn't make much sense--he won't be as good, but he'll get decent numbers.

WR DJ Hackett/Bobby Engram--While many think that Engram, as the veteran, will start opposite Engram, don't underestimate Hackett's ability--as of this writing Hackett is the guy at #2--and while he may not get drafted fantasy-wise, you HAVE to keep your eyes on this potential superstar--he's got the tools, that's for sure.

The Seahawks HAVE to be better this year than last--no question about it. Otherwise, fantasy owners will just have to say that the team is for the birds....(bah dum tish)...
