The Eagles were somewhat of an enigma last year, because they started out below expectations (5-6) and lost their star QB to a season-ending injury. So, they promptly went on and won their last five games--huh? How does that happen? Well, in a word, coaching. So how does that translate into this season? Let's see...
QB Donovan McNabb--I personally don't care for McNabb, but you can't underscore his abilities on the field. Some people have him pegged in a top 5 spot for QBs, and while he still has the penchant to throw alot and scramble, I look at his injury history and just cringe. Sure, the potential is there--but I certainly wouldn't race to get him. Make your choice, and either rejoice when he succeeds or cry when he goes down--again.
RB Brian Westbrook--For so many years, the Eagles had a couple of great runners, and then they decided to just use Westbrook as the go-to back--and what a great choice. He had 1217 yards and 77 receptions--what more could you ask from a back? Especially with having a lame duck QB for the last half of the season--the point is, this guy can play, and get him before someone else does.
TE L.J. Smith--Again, another guy who people are high up on and I just kind of go "eh". He's never caught more than 60+ balls and more than 5 TDs. So why would that change now? If you need a TE and can wait until late, fine, get him. Otherwise, you're wasting a pick if you get him above the middle rounds.
WR Reggie Brown--One of my guys that I am looking to do very well this year. This is only his third year in the league--yet he's established himself as the go to guy in Philly. With McNabb's strong arm back from the dead, so Brown goes as well. My bet is that he puts up numbers comparable to so many other great WRs out there. Yes, you heard me.
WR Kevin Curtis--People are hyping this guy because he's finally getting his "shot", but I don't really think that will happen. He's playing for a team that so many offensive weapons that at least for this year I think he will be a little less than what is expected.
Overall, the Eagles are a solid fantasy team and will ride the arm and legs of McNabb as long as he stays healthy. Wait, what am I saying?
