2007 NFL Fantasy Outlook: Kansas City Chiefs

For years, the Kansas City Chiefs have had solid players in terms of fantasy: Priest Holmes, Trent Green, Tony Gonzalez, the list goes on. This year however is proving to be more of a question mark than anything--in due part because of the sweeping personnel changes that have given the Chiefs a brand new look, for better or worse. Let's see why:

QB Damon Huard--With Green leaving town, the reigns have been given to Huard, and Chiefs fans are scared--as they well should be. With a not-so-polished resume and not your prototypical solid receiving corps, Huard will take his fair share of lumps this year. Don't draft him unless you have to.

RB Larry Johnson--Still one of the best RBs in the game today, the question is how things will change now that defenses may send 7 or 8 in the box because they know Huard cannot do the same type of damage Green used to do. Still, even with the deck stacked against him, don't bet against LJ. He's a tough back and will get great numbers again.

TE Tony Gonzalez--A fierce competitor with the numbers to back him up, he will more than likely get even more looks this year as Huard has not been known for throwing the long ball. His hands are like glue, and in red-zone situations where LJ does not get the carries, Gonzo will be the man. A definite low risk to have on your team.

WR Eddie Kennison--How long has Kennison been playing? It seems like he has always been suiting up for the Chiefs, and you should take note of that--Kennison is a possession receiver, but his production will go down now that Green has left the team. That combined with him being like 400 years old makes him a high gamble.

WR Sammie Parker--He may be able to jump up and get the long ball, but with Huard at the helm, all I see in Sammie's future is frustration. Don't draft him unless you have to. (Is there an echo in here?)

The Chiefs still have some solid fantasy guys, but with Huard being the leader, it's anybody's guess just how much those "solid" numbers will be affected. Other than LJ and Gonzo, this team is shaky at best.
