2007 NFL Fantasy Outlook: Jacksonville Jaguars

I stated before that Detroit has been "Team Hype". Well, if Jacksonville were to be in the same category, they'd be fighting for the same name. Every year, the hopes are high in Florida, only to have them dashed as the season goes by with either injury or dissapointing play. Let's take a look at what this means this season:

QB Byron Leftwich--The highly regarded Leftwich has never really impressed, and don't expect that to change soon, especially with David Garrard having a good experience last year combined with Leftwich's penchant for injuries. Only draft him if you absolutely have to late in the draft, trust me.

RB Fred Taylor/Maurice Jones-Drew--While the Jags have a decent ground attack, it's hard for fantasy owners to know who is going to get the lion's share of the carries and yards. Taylor has always had potential but there's a reason why he's known as "Fragile Fred" and Jones-Drew, while putting 14 scores on the board, can't be valued to highly because of the sharing issue. Jones-Drew is definitely valued more highly than Taylor, but beware of the "Bust" possibility because of the running back by committee.

WR Matt Jones--Many people will pass this guy off as just another receiver in the league. Don't. Jones has the possibility of springing up in the rankings because he has the talent and the uncertainty of not so much talent around him. If you can get him late as a backup or even #3 WR if your league is that deep, it will pay off huge.

WR Reggie Williams--If you draft him, you are possibly taking one of the biggest gambles at WR. He has done nothing to prove himself as being fantasy-worthy much less NFL worthy. Good luck with that.

Overall, the Jags are a very boring team fantasy-wise, with Jones-Drew and Jones being the only ones that can really make an impact, and even that is on shaky ground. Proceed with caution.
