2007 NFL Fantasy Outlook: Indianapolis Colts

The Champs are back. And maybe even better.

Offensively, that is. The Colts, who have put up huge numbers offensively for years, look to continue that trend with even more confidence this year, and that actually may be propelled by the fact that the defensive, already suspect, lost key members to free agency and already have sustained a major blow injury-wise (Booger McFarland). Let's see what this means:

QB Peyton Manning--I really don't think I should waste too much time on talking about him. If you know anything about football and fantasy numbers, Manning is a god. If you need to know more about him, please do yourself a favor and don't even think of entering a fantasy league. On the other hand, join mine. :)

RB Joseph Addai--The Colts only averaged 110 yards per game last season, but you can't dispel Addai, who for the beginning of the year had to share carries with Dominic Rhodes, and with the fact that the Colts have Manning as their slinger. This year, Addai has the reigns completely, and with defenses having to be honest with their secondary, Addai could have a huge impact like Edgerrin James used to. A great pick for any team to have.

WR Marvin Harrison--What can you say? He's amazing, the silent assassin still puts up huge numbers every year. One of the most solid players week in and week out, he's yet to have a "down year".

WR Reggie Wayne--Even with Harrison, Wayne is still a great receiver numbers-wise. Although he shouldn't be counted on as a #1 receiver for a fantasy team, being a #2 puts him as a huge asset to a fantasy owner who can grab him after getting a first-tier WR. Wayne's numbers won't be as solid week in and week out like Harrison, but overall he will come through for you, bank on it!

TE Dallas Clark--The Colts always like to use their TE, especially in the red zone. Clark's never-say-die attitude and work ethic will keep him in the upper echelon of TEs, but it could also be viewed as an injury threat because of his "team first" mentality.

WR Anthony Gonzalez--While many will zone in on Wayne and Harrison, don't forget about the rook from Ohio St. He should fit in nicely to the role that Brandon Stokely exploited for years, and with Manning, who loves to spread the wealth, he's a good guy to get late in the draft.

So, as you can see, the Colts show little weaknesses on the offensive side of things. Manning is one of the best in the NFL and will end up being one of the best ever, so with that being said, any one you pick from Indy should be a solid and safe pick for the entire year, barring injury.
