2007 NFL Fantasy Outlook: Houston Texans

Everything is big in Texas. Including teams that just don't look bad, they look REALLY bad. In this case, we're speaking of the Texans. Houston, who just has never seemed to get it together, doesn't look to improve that much this year either. Here's why:

QB Matt Schaub--David Carr obviously couldn't save his job, even though the Texans ended the year on a two-game win streak to finish 6-10. So, in comes in Schaub, who has never had a QB rating as high as Carr and has very little long-term experience. So.....anyways....that should say it all, but don't forget that Houston's O-line is about as bad as they come. Mr. Schaub, meet Mr. Turf...again...and again...and again...

RB Ahman Green/Ron Dayne--Green's days are well behind him, as Green Bay abused this back not only in carries but also in the dreaded cold. He's a huge injury gamble, and while Dayne had a great end to the season, he still doesn't cut it as an everyday back that fantasy owners can count on. Being a running back in Houston is bad enough, but having a RB-by-committee for a bad team just spells out N-O. As in don't do it.

TE Owen Daniels--a bright light in a dark room, Daniels is undervalued as a TE. I believe that he will have to have many balls thrown to him simply because Schaub will need to dump a lot of passes to avoid vicious pass rushes. After catching 5 TDs last year, I think he'll equal that and maybe more. Definitely one you can sit on and it pay dividends.

WR Andre Johnson--Poor Andre, he's a great athlete and receiver, and he's not been really able to do too much because of his lackluster offense over the years. Just think what he'd do in a Denver or Patriots uniform--scary. Still, he caught 100+ balls for almost 1150 yards, and while Schaub will take some time to get used to, pick him with confidence. He'll come through for you.

Other than that, the Texans don't look to make huge fantasy waves, although they may make a lot of fantasy waives (bah dum tish). Good luck with whomever you draft from this team, you'll need it.
