2007 NFL Fantasy Outlook: Buffalo Bills

So, here we are....in Buffalo. Wow....Buffalo. Can you feel the excitement? No??? Me neither.

Back in the day, Buffalo was quite the hip-hoppin' place as far as fantasy goes, with the likes of Thurman Thomas, Jim Kelly, Andre Reed, Pete Metzelaars, etc., etc. Need I go on? Ok, I will...
But nowadays, it's sometimes hard to stomach getting a quality fantasy player from the Bills. I will explain below:

QB J.P. Losman--I understand that you may see this name and groan. Heck, you may even get sick to your stomach. But before you determine if it is indeed Losman or that triple decker burrito you ate for lunch, check out the stats--he threw for more than 3,000 yards, completion percentage as 62%, and threw 14 interceptions. Yes, you read it right. While Losman is certainly not flashy and has the ability to carry a fantasy team, getting him midway through the draft could prove to be a great move on your part. Watch him in preseason closely.

RB Marshawn Lynch--What is the deal with the Bills drafting oft-injured running backs? First, they got a gimpy Willis McGahee after blowing his knee in Miami, and now they get Lynch, who had several back and ankle problems while playing at Cal. Being thrusted into the limelight immediately won't help Lynch--he would be a stretch for a second RB choice, in my opinion. Although Anthony Thomas will probably eat up carries, it's no secret that the Bills front office is banking on Lynch breaking out this year, but don't count on it.

WR Lee Evans--one of the silent assassins in the NFL, Evans had a spectacular year numbers-wise. He's not only a deep threat, but he can also be used as a possession receiver, so that makes him equally valuable. The problem with getting Evans is that he doesn't have much to complement him (Peerless Price and Roscoe Parrish). Being double teamed won't help much, but he'll still put up good numbers, especially if Losman continues to improve.

All in all, the Bills are your typical blue-collar team, reminding me much of a Chicago Bears team that isn't pretty, but has the potential to get the job done. Look for Losman to really be the thermometer for the others in terms of fantasy plays, and stay away from the RB position, unless you are really "strong of heart".
